Requesting Prescriptions over the Phone
We are receiving an increasing number of prescription requests by telephone.
It is a long standing surgery policy that we do not accept prescription requests by telephone; this is clearly stated on our website, in the practice leaflet and on the relevant message on our phone system.
In the past couple of weeks our Reception staff have been subjected to foul, abusive and in some instances threatening language from several patients.
In line with other NHS organisations we have a Zero tolerance policy to this behaviour which would normally result in the offending patient, in the first instance, being sent a warning letter.
In light of recent developments we are writing to advise that any future such incidents will result in the offending patient being considered for immediate removal from our patient list.
This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
