Appointments

Before booking an appointment with one of our clinicians, it may be worth looking at our self-referrals page to check if a surgery appointment is needed for the service you require.

We are using more technology to make contacting us easier, you can use online consultation to let us know about your health requirements.

Your message is checked by our clinical team, including GPs and you will receive a reply within 48 hours, including the offer of an appointment on the day if you need one. It’s quick, secure and gets you the care and advice you need, when you need it.

Appointments

In order to improve access to the surgery team, in the first instance you should contact the surgery using either the options available on the Surgery Website (web address here) – both these options are available for use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you are unable to do this from home access to both these options is available in the Reception Area in the surgery during our normal opening hours.

Alternatively you can phone the surgery, however we are unable to guarantee that you will be able to get through to one of our reception team in a timely manner as this is dependent on call volumes at the time you ring.

When we receive your initial enquiry a member of our team will triage your requirements and pass your enquiry into the most appropriate member of our team to deal with your enquiry. It is really important that you include as much details as you can in your initial enquiry to aid us in this.

Depending on the nature of your enquiry you may be contacted via text or phone to agree a way forward to resolve your enquiry. While we will try to resolve your enquiry at this stage depending on the nature of your enquiry you may be asked to provide further details – your will be advised how to do this when we get back to you.

We aim to resolve your enquiry by the most efficient way. In the majority of cases we will be able to resolve your enquiry without the need for you to attend the surgery. We would however reassure you that if your need a face-to-face appointment this will be made available and will be arranged between you and the clinician dealing with your enquiry.

Pre-Booked Appointments

Pre-booked appointments are generally available to allow you to discuss medical problems of a less urgent nature or where you may be seeing one of the practice clinical team for ongoing chronic disease management.

They will be arranged in the same ways as above and will involve a clinical decision from the appropriate individual and will be based upon clinical benefit.

  • Pre-booked appointments are generally available to allow you to discuss medical problems of a less urgent nature or where you may be seeing one of the practice clinical team for ongoing chronic disease management.
  • Pre-booked appointments can booked in advance (up to two weeks). Availability of pre-booked appointments is limited and very much dependent on whether you wish to see a named clinician or are happy to see the first available clinician.
  • Pre-booked appointments can be booked with any member of the clinical team depending on the nature of the medical problem and any preference expressed by you.

MJOG Messaging

We are now utilising MJOG (text messaging service) to remind patients of their booked appointments, this is a 24/7 service and allows patients to cancel their appointments at any time without having to phone the surgery so we would encourage all patients to register for this service.

To do so, please ask one of our team for an application and consent form. As a result of GDPR we need your consent to contact you.

Missed Appointments

Due to the number of wasted appointments through patient’s failing to attend without prior informing the surgery it has become necessary to implement the following policy.

If you fail to attend a pre-booked appointment on more than three occasions in a 12 month period, and/or two occasions in any one month period you may be removed from this practice list and have to find an alternative doctor.

Patients who are late for their appointments may not be seen, although we will try to be as flexible as possible.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
